Our Plan for JustAnotherDollar
Wednesday Weekly Wrap-up #1
With JustAnotherDollar.com off the ground and slowly accumulating traffic, I thought it would be a good time to let everyone know what’s next for us. Alyssa and I started JustAnotherDollar as a way to hold ourselves more accountable for our financial behavior. (More about why we chose our name here) I saw a post on Facebook from Millennial Money Man (@GenYMoneyMan) about starting a blog and it opened my eyes to a wing of the Internet I’d never explored. For years, I had actively participated in several online forums and been an avid Redditor and YouTube watcher, but I’d never understood the concept of blogging or how it could add value. Alyssa and I both have full-time careers, so we will not be focused much on monetizing our traffic, but you may see an occasional ad or affiliate plug to help cover costs. Our main goal is to help others and contribute to the conversation about a topic many are afraid of.
We hope to be able to inspire and help others who might benefit from our posts and examples, whether paying down debt or just learning how to handle money better within a relationship. We hope everyone who stops by will join in the conversation and we can work together to spread the message of financial responsibility. By constantly writing and talking about the topic of money and personal finance, Alyssa and I will make better choices and I know that will help us to pay off our debt earlier. (You can read more about our anti-debt strategy here.) Being immersed in the personal finance blogging community is incredibly inspiring and everyone involved benefits from the conversations. If you see me around the ‘net, please send me a message and introduce yourself! My main activity right now is Twitter via @Anotherdollarry, but eventually I would like to be active on Facebook, Pinterest, and Google+.
We’ve got a few ideas for the kinds of posts we will feature on JustAnotherDollar and some goals for content going forward. Post volume will likely increase as I get less busy with work and more competent at WordPress.
- Bi-weekly Featured Topic posts that will range in topic from budgeting to career advice to health/fitness to travel.
- Beginning in February 2017 my goal is to publish a Wednesday Weekly Wrap-up; this will be a diary-style post taking you through whatever we did financially in the previous week, and this will serve as the first one!
- At the end of every month, I will have a Monthly Financial Review where we will go over our Income totals and breakdown the budget for spending and debt repayment.
- Every quarter, we will have our Quarterly Earnings Report which will serve as a Net Worth update and go over major accomplishments and challenges for the past three months.
Be sure to check back often, if you sign up for email notifications I promise all you’ll get is new post updates, no SPAM. Follow us on Twitter and watch for us wherever you go. If you have a question, whether financial, blogging, or otherwise, post a comment and we’ll be sure to get it answered to the best of our ability.
